Congratulations Max Cui, our 2024 Aotearoa Barista Champion

Akl Latte Art Jam

Masako Yamamoto from Atomic Coffee Roasters is pictured pouring a picolo at last Thursday NZ Barista Guild Latte Art Jam.
In the final round she went head to head with her fellow barista and colleague Sam Low also from Atomic Coffee Roasters.
The two work side by side in the Kingsland cafe and have a friendly rivalry that has helped them train both for the national Barista Championship and their daily barista roles.
The evening was Masako’s however who took home a $200 voucher courtesy of hosts Columbus Coffee.

The NZ Barista Guild is having their first Latte Art Jam of the year next Thursday, yay!
Here’s what Ryan, event host has to say about the event:
We are gonna make it simple for you this time round, all you have to do is steam your milk, and pour your coffees. The amazing Hanna Teramoto will be pulling your shots!
It will be a head to head knockout competition where you will have 2 minutes to pour one flat white and one piccolo. Coffees will be judged by three judges in accordance with WCE latte art criteria.
The best pours go through to the next round, simple as that!
Entry to competition is free for guild members and $5 for non-members. Of course its free to come and watch so bring your friends… there may even be a trophy for the winner.
Along with the Latte Art Jam, we will have a brewing demonstration featuring V60s and Chemex’s, along with some delicious coffee for you all to try.
This is going to be a great opportunity to catch up with everyone, ask questions, learn and have fun.
Spot prizes going out to entrants of the Latte Art Jam so don’t miss out, this is going to be great.
Time: 6.30pm
Date: Thursday 18 April
Venue: Colombus on Dominion, 345 Dominion Rd, Auckland
See all y’all next week!
