Code of Conduct
The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association is committed to the tenets of equality, diversity and respect. Our core values are those of support, respect, coffee excellence, professionalism, and honesty.
Our events through our code of conduct aim to further these beliefs. The New Zealand coffee community and industry progresses through collaboration, inclusion and mutual respect.
We aim to create safe and welcoming environments for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, economic or social status.
Our events, people, and companies we support are expected to adhere to our code of conduct policy.
“NZSCA has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, violent behaviour, and sexually offensive behaviour or actions. This includes, but it not limited to: harassment toward another individual on the basis of gender, sex, pregnancy, childbirth, religion, creed, race, colour, national origin, medical condition, genetic disorder, physical or mental disability, marital status, age or sexual orientation; physical or verbal threats; unwelcome attention; bullying, stalking; use of physical force; behaviour that creates a disturbance or is dangerous, including lewd or generally offensive behaviour or language; using sexually explicit or offensive language or conduct; and obscene gestures.
Anyone found to be behaving in any way that violates this policy, either in person or online, may be removed from the Association or Association event without refund and may be banned from future NZSCA events.”
Promotion of events and member driven events through NZSCA platforms.
The NZSCA are happy to promote and assist in any event that actively promotes community and or education or furthers our goals as an association. These events must however be inclusive and open to anyone that may choose to attend. We will not promote or assist in advertising/promoting events that are targeted to members only and sales driven or core business sales driven.
We aim to produce events that:
1. Provide a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all attendees, sponsors and organisers
2. Commit to a diversity of judges, MCs, panel participants and speakers
We will not endorse or promote events that include:
1. Sexualised images on event posters and promotional materials
2. All-same sex judges for competitions, all-same sexuality panel discussions, or all-same sex speakers
3. Harassing or bullying behaviour by members or participants with no repercussions
Ticketing – Terms & Conditions
The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has Professional Development, Event and Competition ticketing Terms and Conditions as outlined below.
The policy is required due to the costs associated with organizing events and to the limited space capacity of some events which could restrict opportunities for other members who would have liked to participate.
Event and Competition refund policy:
Please note all fees are payable in advance and no space is confirmed until the payment is received. Should you wish to cancel your fee is refundable less a cancellation fee which is a third of the total cost of the ticket.
This only applies if written notice of the cancellation is received 21 days prior to the event. If the cancellation is made within 21 days of the event, no refund will be made.
