AGM 2025 – New President and Board Members

Meet your new board.

Dear Members,
Five new board members were elected at the 2025 NZSCA AGM on Friday, 30 May, at ToiToi, Hastings.

Your Executive team is:

President – returns after an absence from the Board after five years on the board, Carl Sara now leads this great team and will be allocating portfolios shortly.
Immediate Past PresidentMegan Wyper from Acme Cupco, Wellington.
Vice-President – Richard Corney from Flight Coffee steps up as Vice President, having sat on the board in previous years.
2nd Vice President Scott Pepler from Havana, Auckland. This is Scott’s third year on the board.
Treasurer: Alice Burton from John Burton Ltd, Auckland.
Wayne Burrows from Zephyr Coffee Roasters and Sarah McMath from Meadow Fresh, both from Auckland, remain on the Board in their third-year term.

Congratulations also go to the following new board members:
Andrew Feldon, Mouthwater Coffee
Bonnie Lam, The Coffee Dojo
Leon Dumper, MILKLAB
Sean Ellis, Kaffelogic

Tom Handiside from La Marzocco, Auckland. Tom has stepped down after serving many years on the board.  Thank you, Tom.

Treasurer – Steve Jae from La Marzocco, Auckland, took the reins from Nic McClean and continued to build fantastic financial success. Thanks, Treasure, we know you’ll enjoy Melbourne!

Sam Keall from Havana Coffee Works, Wellington, and Jason Moore from Vanguard Specialty Coffee, Dunedin, stepped down from the Board after two years, as did Ken Shi from Aoraki Coffee Roasters in Hampton Downs, who has completed four years. We appreciate their contributions immensely and look forward to seeing them at events in the future.

Megan Wyper from Acme CupCo has sat on the Board for seven years, the last two as President. She will now sit on the board as the Immediate Past President.

Thank you to those who stood up hotly contested positions.  We are sure that we will call on you for future mahi.

Thanks to the members of this unique industry who made this AGM inspiring, fun, and a celebration of coffee. We certainly celebrated our people.

After nearly eight incredible years working alongside an inspiring team, Emma McDougall is heading into a new local role. Emma says, “Ngā mihi nui, it’s been a truly magical ride. Aotearoa Coffee is richer for the amazing people who make it what it is.”

We welcome Jessica MacDonald back into the Marketing and Communications role. Any changes are destined to be seamless and served with a tasty brew, as usual.
