Sunday 3 March ’24
Auckland / Tāmaki Makaurau, TBC Venue
This is the first of three regional parred-down Barista Champ events. It’s like the big championship but not. It’s a taste of competing! You will have 5 minutes on stage to dial in your coffee and 10 minutes to present your coffee.
We are not asking you to do a full-on performance set to music and design a signature drink – that comes later in the main event. We are asking you to compete, in the same format as the full championship without all the extras. All you have to bring is your coffee, tamper, and jugs.
We will even have milk, tampers, and jugs on hand for those who need to use them.
Ceramics will be available in a variety of styles/sizes. You can bring a menu or coffee information printed but this isn’t compulsory although you will have to tell us what’s on that menu.
In summary, you bring your coffee and tell us about it whilst showcasing to the judges your skills in making four (4) x espresso and four (4) x milk beverages to one head judge, one technical judge, and two scoring sensory judges.
The winner of each region will win a reserved spot at the national event on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October ’24. Baristas placing 2-4 will potentially earn reserved spots also.
Entry will be on the application and will open on x date TBC
