Michael Phillips was the first US barista to win the World Barista Championship crown, a title he claimed in 2010 in London.
A year later he resigned from his role as Director of Education at Intelligentsia to co-found his own company in the arts district of Downtown LA – Handsome Coffee Roasters.
Earlier this year, Blue Bottle purchased Handsome Coffee Roasters as part of their expansion plans and Phillips stayed on as Director of Education.
