Member “Shout Out” New Ground Coffee

What is your core business? Product development & contract manufacturing of shelf-stable ready-to-drink coffee products.

When did you start trading? March 2018

Give us a three-sentence summary of your company: New Ground is a product development and contract manufacturer for the world’s best roasters. We produce a range of shelf-stable, ready-to-drink products including Specialty Instant Coffee, Liquid Coffee Concentrate & Coffee In A Can. We receive roasted whole bean coffee and deliver back custom branded goods, ready for retail.

Who are your customers? Roasters & Beverage brands.

Describe your ideal customer: Specialty Coffee Roasters.

How do you reach your customers? (online, storefront, in person, on the phone, etc) Online and In-Person.

What’s something you sell/offer that not many people might know about: Instant, Extract & Canned coffee.

Tell us about any advances over time that you’ve embraced. These may be technological, sustainability, or HR for example: We began with a mission to create good-tasting instant and build a consumer brand. On that journey, we developed the “NGT extraction system” our proprietary brewing machine, with this we can create a high-quality high-Brix liquid extract. We found that this system was better put to use for all coffee roasters so pivoted into being a contract manufacturer for the world’s best roasters. The New Ground brand now has a goal of providing a great customer experience to roasters rather than consumers.

What has been the project/concept/service that you’re most proud of? In 2021 we’ve developed a range of new products. 2 projects of note: Savage Coffees (Finca Deborah) – in collaboration with Flight Coffee we produced 5 Panama Geisha Instant Coffees. Most likely the best instant coffee ever made. St Ali – We developed and produced ST Ali’s first Instant + Adaptogens product. Their famous “Feels Good” Blend + Reishi & Ashwagandha all in a sachet for an enlightening cup.

What gets you and your team out of bed in the morning? Why do you do what you do? Innovation. The constant development of our company and the parts that make it. Every department has its own innovation projects and those are the fun part of what we do. From product development to operations processes to streamlining customer service. Making this simple, achievable, and enjoyable for us and our customer’s benefit. All fueled on tasty coffees of the world of course.

Do you think the expertise of industry is appreciated by the general coffee drinking public? When delivered with passion by a human being who loves what they do, then yes.

In an ideal world, where would you like to see the future of our industry? Transparent supply chain with customers having real connection and understanding of the number of steps in the journey from farm to cup.

What’s in the future for your company? Any current projects that you are proud of? We have commissioned our supply chain system for Oatmilk Coffee cans which will be online in Q1 2022. That should give roasters the opportunity to diversify their distribution channels and provide more convenience to their customers. We’re looking forward to the world opening up again too so we can go visit our favourite roasters overseas.
