We are currently working on finalizing sponsorship and locking in the details around the 2021 Cup Tasters, Latte Art, and 2022 Barista Championships.
Planning our events calendar has been challenging. We thank you for your support during these times. Thankfully, we managed to successfully run the Cup Tasters and Latte Art early in 2020 before things got shut down.
After two-level and date changes for the Meadow Fresh NZ Barista Championship, we excitedly ran this event in March 2021. Our plan is to run our events with a longer lead time and not necessarily in the same year as the world event. This gives our champions more time to prepare. Luise Metelka, our Meadow Fresh New Zealand Barista Champion for 2021 will compete in 2022 as will the champions from the upcoming 2021 Cup Tasters and Latte Art Championships.
Our Meadow Fresh NZ Latte Art Champion 2020 Hoony Chae is aiming to compete in the world event planned for this November in Taiwan. This will be dependant on the ability to travel safely and that the two-week quarantine is not required on his return.
At the discretion of our board and valued sponsors, our Cup Tasters Champion 2020, Alan Bruce will be given the equivalent of the funds that had been set aside for him to compete internationally. The World Cup Tasters Championship was canceled in 2020 and currently, there is no World Cup Tasters Championship planned for 2021. While the desired outcome would be to compete on the world stage, health and safety remain at the heart of our decisions. We congratulate Alan on his win and hope to see him on stage at our upcoming events where competitors will be given the chance to compete on the World Stage in 2022.
